The long-standing rivalry between the city’s bravest and finest is set to take center stage once again at the annual George Maloof Charity Football Game on Saturday, May 10th, at Bishop Gorman High School. With kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m., this exciting clash between Las Vegas law enforcement officers and firefighters is more than just a game—it’s a battle for a cause.
This year’s event proudly benefits three incredible organizations: Law Enforcement Assistance Fund (LEAF), PFFN Benevolent Fund, and Children’s Heart Foundation. These charities provide essential aid to law enforcement officers, firefighters, and children in need, making the game not just a showcase of athleticism and teamwork but a powerful fundraising effort for the community.
The Police vs. Fire charity football game has a rich history dating back to 1974, originally started to support a firefighter’s daughter who was battling dialysis treatment. The event ran until 1983, before being revived in 2022 by LVPPA President Steve Grammas. Since its return, it has become one of Las Vegas’ most anticipated charity sports events, uniting the city in support of local heroes and their families.
The competition is fierce as both teams enter the game tied in recent history. The police team claimed victory in 2022, while firefighters evened the score in 2023. With the 2024 game being the ultimate tiebreaker, fans can expect an intense battle under the Friday night lights of Bishop Gorman’s state-of-the-art stadium.
Adding to the excitement, the game will feature special appearances by SWAT officers, firetrucks on display, and a pre-game performance of the National Anthem. The community is encouraged to come out, bring their families, and cheer on their heroes in uniform.
While general admission is free, a VIP ticket experience is available for $150, which includes exclusive balcony seating, an open bar, catered food, a swag bag, and a live DJ. Proceeds from VIP ticket sales directly support the benefiting charities.
