Scorpions/Tesla Review

Scorpions/Tesla Review by Demodave
A hurricane hit the Thomas and Mack Center on June 23rd. The overall damage was minimal including temporary deafness and a slight hangover. The final sting of the Scorpions was loudly felt with great sound, lights and pyro.

The evening started off with a short but solid set from Tesla. Jeff Keith's vocals were right on with no machines to tarnish the wall of guitars from Frank Hannon and Dave Rude.

After a short intermission to stock up on beer, the Scorpions lit it up with Sting In The Tail, title track from their 2010 album. The band proceeded to pull out 5 tracks from Lovedrive and Animal Magnetism, including deeper cuts like Make It Real and Is There Anybody There. I was in heaven hearing these classic tracks from the Scorpions!

Klaus Meine's voice sounded as good as it did in 1982. The rest of the night included a swarm of hits from all eras of the band's history. Even though it was pretty much a repeat from the last time the band was here, the Kottak Attack drum solo still impressed with video recreations of all of the album covers while James powered through the solo that included snippets from each album. The concert ended with an explosive performance of Rock You Like A Hurricane that brought everyone to their feet. Overall, this concert impressed me getting 5 out of 5 stings. If this truly is "the final sting", then I'm glad I got to see the big finale.
